Eimear Noone

Eimear Noone is an Irish conductor and composer who has made significant contributions to the world of music. She has conducted and composed music for video games, film, television, and theater, and is considered a trailblazer for women in the male-dominated field of orchestral conducting.

Noone was born on June 22, 1979, in Kilconnell, County Galway, Ireland. Her musical talents were evident from an early age, and she began playing the piano at the age of three. She attended the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, where she studied piano, violin, and composition. In 1997, she moved to the United States to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied film scoring.

After graduating from Berklee in 2000, Noone began her career in video game music. She worked as a composer and conductor for some of the most popular franchises in the industry, including World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. In 2013, Noone became the first woman to conduct at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, and in 2018, she made history as the first woman to conduct at the Oscars. She has also conducted orchestras around the world, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Eimear Noone’s work as a composer extends beyond video games and includes film, television, and theater. Her film scores include “The Donner Party” (2009) and “Two Days in April” (2016), and she has composed music for TV shows such as “The Celtic Tenors” (2003) and “The Green Fields of America” (2006). Noone has also composed music for theater productions, including the musical “The Lost Child” (2011).
